March 13 2012: Kings Beat Red Wings 5-2

The Kings shot down the high flying fourth place Red Wings Tuesday night at Staples Center. The Kings had a strong first period with goals by Justin Williams & Anze Kopitar to put the Kings up by 2 goals. In the second period, the Red Wings scored a goal by Jiri Hudler to put them within 1 goal. King's Defense man Drew Doughty scored a goal in the 2nd period as well to put the Kings up by 2 goals going into the 2nd intermission. In the beginning of the 3rd period, the Kings scored a goal to give them a commanding 3 goal lead. The Red Wings tried to mount a comeback with a goal by Johan Franzen and even pulled their goalie to stay alive but it was too little too late for the Red Wings. Jeff Carter topped off the game when he scored on the empty net to seal the deal for the Kings. The final score was 5-2.
