Saugus, Hart Girls Soccer Teams Tied For First Place In Foothill League
The Saugus and Hart girls soccer teams are tied for first place in the Foothill League standings entering the final week of the season.
Saugus is coming off a 4-4 draw against Valencia. The Hart girls shut out Golden Valley 2-0.
Saugus is on the road and plays West Ranch today. Hart is home against Valencia.
The Canyon girls soccer team plays at Golden Valley.
On the boys side, Hart has a one-game lead over Canyon in the Foothill League standings. The Hart boys shut out Golden Valley, 4-0, and Nico Ferrero recorded a hat trick.
The Canyon boys shut out West Ranch, 1-0.
Hart can win at least a share of the Foothill League championship today against Valencia. Canyon needs a win on the road against Golden Valley to keep pace with Hart.
The West Ranch boys are at Saugus.
The Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball team lost to Pacifica Christian, 49-47, on a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the game.
The Trinity boys basketball team beat Newbury Park Adventist, 58-38. Spencer Klehn scored 21 points and had seven rebounds. Four players from Trinity scored in double figures.
In college golf, the College of the Canyons men’s team won the Western State Conference match at Valencia Country Club by 24 strokes. The COC men shot 375 as a team in the first conference match of the season.
Santa Barbara was second at 399. COC’s Travis Bregman and Jacob Galiezer each shot even par 72s, the low rounds of the match.
In hockey, the Valencia Flyers lost three games to the Idaho Junior Steelheads over the weekend.
The Flyers lost the first game, 4-3, and were shut out in the second game, 5-0.
Lakoda Coleman scored two goals for the Flyers in the third game, but the team lost, 7-3.
The Flyers are home at the Ice Station Valencia against the San Diego Gulls starting Friday night.
The Kings are in Tampa Bay for a game against the Lightning, the third game of a six-game road trip. The Kings have lost their first two games on the road trip and are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricane on Saturday.
