Canyon Boys Basketball Team Looks To Match Longest Winning Streak In School History
The Canyon boys basketball team is off to the best start in school history. The Cowboys can match the longest winning streak in school history tonight against Hart.
Canyon has won 12 games in a row, one win shy of the school record set by the 1978 Cowboys basketball team. That team was 22-4 and advanced to the semifinals of the CIF playoffs.
The current Canyon team is ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA poll and coming off a 68-34 win over Golden Valley on Friday night.
In other Foothill League games, West Ranch is at Valencia and Saugus plays Golden Valley.
West Ranch is coming off a 64-42 win over Saugus. Valencia beat Hart, 64-53, on Friday night.
On the girls side, Canyon is home against Hart. Valencia travels to West Ranch. Saugus host Golden Valley.
Canyon is ranked No. 5 in the Southern Section Division 2AA poll and beat Golden Valley 69-21 on Friday night.
Saugus is the hottest team in the Foothill League with four wins in a row, including 57-49 over West Ranch on Friday.
The Valencia girls beat Hart, 82-39, and are 4-2 in their past six games.
The Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball team lost to Grace Brethren, 44-37, in overtime. The Cardinals are back on the court again this afternoon for a Heritage League game against Milken.
The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team is on the road and plays Hillcrest Christian of Thousand Oaks.
In hockey, the Kings beat the Ottawa Senators, 4-1. Kyle Clifford had a goal and an assist for the Kings and goalie Jonathan Quick made 27 saves.
The Kings have a few days off for the NHL All-Star break. The only King going to the All-Star game is Quick, who leads in the league in shutouts with six.
The All-Star game is Sunday in Ottawa.
