Canyon Country Library Once Again Open For Business
Once again, the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library is an open book, or rather open for business, after offering only limited services since November 7.
Shortly after the City of Santa Clarita assumed library operations from the County of Los Angeles, water damage to some areas of the carpet was discovered. Fortunately, repairs to the carpet were covered by warranty and were managed by the County of Los Angeles, Internal Services Department.
Unfortunately, the repairs required the newly revamped library to be closed and limited to merely storefront operations. The library's collection was placed in storage and was not available for lending. The storefront operations located in the side community room allowed patrons to pick up hold material, place material holds, utilize a dozen public computer work stations, and print documents.

During the two month closure, the concrete flooring in the main library was shot-blasted and then given a new application of moisture sealant. After satisfactorily testing the sealant, the library furniture and collection were returned for today's opening.
“I want to express my gratitude to Los Angeles County staff for working with us to complete repairs in a timely manner. We are pleased to once again provide full library services to the residents of Canyon Country and appreciate their patience and support throughout construction,” said Mayor Laurie Ender.
The Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library is located at 18601 Soledad Canyon Road.
Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
