Canyon Boys Basketball Team Wins Eighth Game In A Row

khts_sportsThe Canyon boys basketball team beat Rio Mesa handily, 48-35, behind 16 points from Clay Kasdorf.

It was the eighth win in a row for Canyon. Coley Apsay scored 14 points as the Cowboys improved to 15-1 on the season.

On the girls side, Saugus lost to Chaminade, 61-35. Megan Dawe led Saugus with 19 points in the loss.

The Hart boys soccer team scored three goals in the first half and shut out La Canada, 4-0, to win its seventh match in a row.

Nico Ferrero and Oscar Ocampo each had a goal and an assist for Hart. Sammy Reyes and Brayon Rodriguez scored the other goals for Hart.

The Master’s College men’s basketball team beat Fresno Pacific, 73-54, and improved to 3-0 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.

Leif Karlberg led four players from The Master’s College in double figures. He scored 19 points and made five 3-pointers.

Anthony Cammon had 18 points and seven assists.

The Master’s College women squeaked past Fresno Pacific, 76-74, in double overtime to win their first Golden State Athletic Conference game of the season.

Ella Joines hit two free throws with 10 seconds left in the second overtime period to give The Master’s College a four-point lead, 76-72. The Master’s College outscored Fresno Pacific, 13-11, in the second overtime.

Lena Rivera scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds for The Master’s College.

In college football, Michigan beat Virginia Tech, 23-20 in overtime in the Sugar Bowl, on a field goal by Brendan Gibbons.

Virginia Tech made a furious comeback, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime. But after Virginia Tech missed a field goal try on the first overtime possession, Gibbons converted on a 37-yarder to win the game.
