SCV Fishing Report November 22nd: Local Lakes And Saltwater Report

Here's the most recent reports from our local lakes:
1)  Castaic Lake....Rainbow trout are biting.  The top areas for trout are the Main Ramp, West Ramp, Elizabeth Canyon and Kong Island. There's still some striped bass to be had and the best locations are at the Dam and the West  Ramp.  Good largemouth bass and panfish action in the early morning or evening hours.
2)  Pyramid Lake....There continues to be some 1 - 5 pound stripped bass biting; try the Marina area or the Inlet.  Also, some largemouth bass are nibbling in the early AM or PM.  Try the Coves for fair action on catfish and bluegill.

3)  Lake Piru....Try the Marina area or Coves for good action on panfish and crappie up to two pounds. Fair to good largemouth bass bite.  Action for catfish has slowed due to colder water temps.
4)  Lake Cachuma....Good trout bite!  Try the shoreline at Harveys or Mohawk.  Bass are in deeper water (25 feet) and action has slowed forthe bass and catfish too, because of cold water.  Some crappie limits in the Narrows.

Saltwater Report:
Landings from Long Beach to Marina Del Rey:  It continues to be a rockfish fest.  When the boats do get out -  it is with light loads.  Anglers are being rewarded with half to full limits of rockfish, some sculpin, whitefish, sheepheadand lingcod, in that order.  Plenty of good, tasty fish tacos!

Oxnard/Ventura Landings:  Light loads here as well.  The boats/skippers in the know are getting limits of lingcod for passengers along with full limits of rockfish, ocean whitefish, sculpin, and sheephead.  A few trips are targeting the outer islands such as San Nicholas Isle and are being rewarded with a few exotics like yellowtail, white seabass and perhaps a barndoor halibut.... try the "Ranger 85" with Captain Frank Ursatti.

.....and that completes this weeks fish report....Halibut Hal reporting for your Hometown Station KHTS-1220AM.
