Dusenberry, Ward Advance to WSCGA Girls Golf Tournament
Hart’s Kendell Dusenberry and West Ranch’s Julie Ward are still alive – barely – in the CIF girls golf playoffs.
Both advanced to the WSCGA girls golf championship in Murrieta on Thursday, playing dangerously close to the cut line in the CIF Southern Section individual tournament at the Talega Golf Course in San Clemente.
Dusenberry shot a 7-over 79 and made the cut by one stroke. Ward was 8-over at 80, right at the cut line, and squeaked into the WSCGA tournament by winning a two-hole playoff.
Seven golfers were 8-over par. Ward was the only player to advance out of that group.
Lilia Vu of Fountain Valley won the CIF Southern Section individual girls golf championship with a 2-under 70.
