While the female victim in the solo collision in the 2006 Ford Fusion has still not been positively identified by the coroner, CHP officials say they have attempted to contact families they believe might be related. The driver was not thrown from the vehicle, but the fire destroyed any evidence that would indicated if she was wearing her seat belt.
The California Highway Patrol is reporting a solo vehicle fatality at 5:10 a.m. on Plum Canyon Road, just east of Heller Circle. Officials say the female, solo occupant collided with a signal pole near the fire station currently under construction and burst into flames. Because the vehicle was fully engulfed, identification of the victim has not been completed and cause of the accident is still under investigation. The driver was headed west bound on Plum Canyon went the collision occured. Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene but the area of the incident is considered Los Angeles County so CHP is handling the investigation.
