Deli Sandwiches, Packaged Seafood Recalled For Contamination

Landshire of St. Louis, MO is initiating a voluntary recall of 1,751 cases of the Nike All-American sandwich because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The Nike All-American sandwiches were distributed Nationwide at Retail Supermarkets.

The sandwich subject to the recall is: Landshire Nike All-American. This is a pre-packaged, individually wrapped white package sandwich. Sandwich weight is 7.25ounces (206grams). UPC code is 0 9748801741 5. The sandwiches involved have a lot number of 11 237 6. The lot number is printed in black ink on the side or back of the package. No other products or code dates are affected by this recall; this recall does not include the Red Packaged Nike Super Poorboy sandwich.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was the result of a routine sampling taken by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services for retail food establishments.

Consumers who have purchased the Nike All-American are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Landshire, at 800-468-3354.

YAMAYA USA, INC of Torrance, CA is recalling Masago (Capelin Roe), because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

The Masago (Capelin Roe) was distributed to retail stores in Los Angeles (California), Baltimore (Maryland), Atlanta (Georgia), and Mexico.

The Masago (Capelin Roe) was packed 2 lb (907g)  in plastic container with white  label has Japanese writing and English writing that has “Yamaya USA, Inc.” as the brand and the product label shows Masago (Capelin Roe) and the “Item No. 09867” is indicated on the box.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was the result of a microbiological sampling of the facility by the FDA which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. The company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continues their investigation as to what caused the problem.
