Canyon Football Team Ranked No. 3 In CIF Poll

khts_sportsThe Canyon football team jumped to No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll. Canyon beat Burroughs of Burbank, 42-14, on Friday night.

Four teams from the Foothill League are ranked in the top 10. Valencia is ranked No. 7 after a 17-14 overtime loss to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

West Ranch is ranked No. 9 after winning its second game in a row.

Hart comes in at No. 10 after a blowout win against Palmdale.

In high school cross country, the Saugus girls won the junior and senior portions of the Seaside Invitational in Ventura over the weekend. Karis Frankian led the Saugus girls by winning the senior race. Her sister, Abigail Frankian, won the sophomore race.

Valencia’s Maddie Dignadice won the junior girls race.

In high school volleyball, the Saugus girls reached the championship match of the gold division at the San Luis Obispo tournament and lost to Oaks Christian, 25-22.

Ashley Guthrie and Kristin McCord were selected to the all-tournament team for Saugus.

In college soccer, The Master’s College men won a pair of games over the weekend. The Mustangs beat Westminster from Utah, 2-1, and beat Holy Names, by the same score of 2-1.

The Angels lost to the A’s 6-3 and took a hit in the American League West standings. The Angels are three games behind the Rangers, the leaders in the West standings, with 15 games left to play in the season.
