Valencia's Connor Cantrell Wins 2nd Straight NASCAR Super Trucks Race

khts_sportsConnor Cantrell of Valencia won the NASCAR Super Trucks race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale and padded his lead slightly in the Super Trucks standings at the track.

Cantrell won his second race in a row, taking the lead from Ryan Partridge of Rancho Cucamonga on the final lap.

Partridge is 10 points behind Cantrell in the Super Trucks standings.

The College of the Canyons men’s soccer team opened the season with a 2-0 win over Consumnes River.

Amaldo Macias and Uriel Rodriguez scored for COC. Maayan Schrager notched an assist and goalkeeper Alex Burkevics recorded the shutout.

In youth baseball, the Hart PONY Mustang team lost a pair of games and did not advance to the playoffs of the National Youth Baseball Championships in Memphis, Tenn., over the weekend.

Hart lost, 5-2, to the West Seminole team from Florida and then lost, 9-1, to the Banditos team from Texas.

The Oakley Stingrays from Norwalk beat the AAU team from Miami, 8-6, in the championship game.

In the major leagues, the Angels lost to the Rangers, 9-5, and fell three games out of first place in the American League West standings.

Angels starter Jered Weaver, pitching on three days rest for the first time in his career, was roughed up. He went seven innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits.
