Fall Prevention Fair To Help Seniors
On the first day of the fall season, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will host a fair to raise awareness for a very different type of fall.
In recognition of National Fall Prevention Day, HMNMH is bringing attention to the leading cause of injuries in seniors over the age of 65: falling. The free Fall Prevention Fair will be held on September 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center.

According to the National Resource Center for Safe Aging, one out of three seniors will fall this year and falls are the major contributing factor to 40% of all nursing home admissions.
The fair will provide participants with an opportunity to explore the many factors that may contribute to their risk of falling and will include balance activities and fall prevention strategies.
Free health screenings including blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol will be available. Attendees will receive valuable safety and health information and have an opportunity to discuss medications with a hospital pharmacist.
The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is located at 22900 Market Street, Santa Clarita.
