Fatal Accident Closes 14 Freeway, One Man Dies
UPDATED 1:57 p.m. Wednesday
A 55-year old Lancaster man died this morning after being involved in a collision with a big rig on the northbound 14 freeway just south of Escondido Canyon Road.
The watch commander at the Newhall office of the California Highway Patrol told KHTS that the man was the solo occupant of a white Toyota sedan that simply ran into the back of a slower-moving fully-loaded big rig traveling in the same lane of the northbound 14.

The accident happened during normal traffic around 9 a.m. The victim's car became pinned underneath the truck and he died at the scene. His identity was withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
A SigAlert was issued at 9:30 a.m., when all northbound lanes were closed. The closure was lifted 40 minutes later.
