Hart High graduate Trevor Bauer Makes Pro Baseball Debut For Visalia
Hart High graduate Trevor Bauer made his professional baseball debut for the Visalia Rawhide and pitched two scoreless innings.
Bauer, the first-round selection by the Arizona Diamondbacks, gave up one hit and struck out three against the Stockton Ports. One of the batters he faced was Michael Gilmartin, who played high school baseball at Crespi in Encino.
Visalia won the game, 11-2.
In girls volleyball, Notre Dame won the third annual Saugus summer tournament, beating Valencia, 25-18, in the championship match.
Notre Dame beat Saugus in three games in the semifinals of the tournament.
In baseball, the Diamondbacks beat the the Giants, 5-2, and the Phillies needed extra innings to beat the Rockies, 4-3, in 10.
The Nationals beat the Braves, 5-3, the Cubs beat the Pirates, 5-3, the Marlins beat the Mets, 7-3 in 10 innings, the Astros beat the Reds, 4-3, in 10 innings, and the Brewers beat the Cardinals, 6-2.
In the American League, the Mariners doubled up on the A’s, 8-4, the Yankees beat the White Sox, 3-2, and the Indians beat the Red Sox, 9-6.
