Patsy Cline Tribute To Open In Newhall Arts District

Cline_001Always…Patsy Cline is one of America’s best loved musicals about the great female country superstar and her most devoted fan, Louise Seger. Louise first heard Patsy Cline on the “Arthur Godfrey Show” in 1957 and she became an immediate and avid fan.

When Patsy traveled to Houston for a show in 1961, Louise and her buddies arrived early and, by coincidence, the two women met and struck up a friendship that was to culminate in Cline spending the night at Louise’s house. Their friendship evolved into a pen-pal relationship which lasted until Cline’s untimely death in a plane crash.

Always…Patsy Cline is a charming and high spirited musical comedy and one of the best known and most produced of the jukebox musicals, featuring some of Patsy’s biggest hits including Anytime, I Fall To Pieces, She’s Got You, Sweet Dreams, and Crazy – to name a few. The show combines humor, sadness and reality.  It offers fans who remember Patsy Cline a chance to look back, while giving new fans an idea of what seeing her was like and what she meant to her original fans.

Always…Patsy Cline features Marie Wise-Hawkins as Patsy. Marie has performed at the Mel Tillis Theater in Branson, Walt Disney Hall’s REDCAT, Melody Ranch, the Gene Autry Museum and the Skirball Center, and last month she was chosen by Go Country 105.1 to perform at Knott’s Berry Farm. Playing the role of Louise Sager, the fan, Dawnita Kay Shelden brings a special spark to the role. Dawnita is a member of Company B, an Andrews Sisters musical tribute which has performed internationally for over ten years.

In addition to touring all over the United States, Always…Patsy Cline had a very successful run Off-Broadway in 1997 and it continues to be one of the most popular and often produced shows throughout America. A hit wherever it is performed, Always…Patsy Cline is now on the stage of the Canyon Theatre Guild in Old Town Newhall.  Local performances are on Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 PM, July 30 through August 28. Ticket prices are $15 for Seniors and Juniors and $17 for Adults.  Call the box office for reservations: 661-799-2702. The CTG is at 24242 Main Street, Newhall.
