Hart Graduate And Fresno State Golfer Receives Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Designation
Brian Sunker, a graduate of Hart High School in 2008 and a current student and golfer for the men’s team at Fresno State University, was recently named one of the 138 Division I Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.
The designation was awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America in Norman, Oklahoma last Wednesday.
According to the website of the Golf Coaches Association of America, to be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, and have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Sunker met or exceeded all of these conditions in his junior year of college last year, making him eligible for the recognition he recently received.
According to Mike Watney, headcoach of Fresno State’s men’s golf team, Brian has proven his worth on the team over the past few years and was a perfect candidate for this recognition.
“Brian Sunker has the whole package of intelligence, kindness, character, good looks, and a solid golf game,” Watney said. “He is very deserving of this All-America Scholar Award. He got it because he is the most dedicated and hardest worker on the team.”
Sunker will begin his senior year at Fresno state this fall after beginning his college career as a redshirt member of the men’s golf team in 2008.
