Northern California Man Dies In Boating Accident At Pyramid Lake

khts_ambulanceA 36-year old Northern California man died after a collision on Pyramid Lake in Castaic at 1:40 p.m. Saturday.

A 20-foot ski boat collided with a WaveRunner that had turned abruptly into his path. The ski boat operator jumped into the water to assist the victim, who had been driving the Waverunner, but was now floating face down, motionless in the water.

He held the man’s head above the water until personnel from a Coast Guard Auxiliary boat who had witnessed the collision quickly arrived.

They lifted the victim from the water onto the boat and transported him to shore.

Once on shore, they were met by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau who administered CPR to the victim. They administered CPR for approximately 25 minutes until paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 2:22 PM. The exact cause of death is unknown at this point. The victim suffered multiple injuries as a result of the collision. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.

The 32-year old Hispanic male victim is from Fremont, California.
