Santa Clarita Blue Heat Women's Soccer Team Splits A Pair Of Games
The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team beat the first-place Vancouver White Caps, but lost to the Seattle Sounders over the weekend.
Edite Fernandes and Holly Hein scored for the Blue Heat in a 2-1 win over the White Caps. The win put the Blue Heat in first place in the United Soccer League Western Conference.
But the Blue Heat suffered their first loss of the season, a 1-0 shutout, to the Sounders on Sunday.
The Blue Heat are 8-1-3 and will play the LA Strikers at Canyon High School on Wednesday night.
In baseball, Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees won the All Star Home Run Derby in Phoenix. Cano beat Adrian Gonzalez of the Boston Red Sox in the finals.
Dodgers all star outfielder Matt Kemp didn’t advance past the first round and finished in last place.
The Major League Baseball All Star Game is tonight. Jered Weaver of the Angels gets the start for the American League All Stars. Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies starts for the National League.
Hart High graduate James Shields of the Tampa Bay Rays is on the American League All Star team, but he is not eligible to pitch because he started on Sunday. Alexi Ogando of the Texas Rangers earned a spot on the All Star team in place of Shields.
