Tutor Time Of Bouquet Canyon Receives NECPA Accreditation
Tutor Time of Bouquet Canyon Plaza has been caring for children in the Santa Clarita Valley since the mid ‘90s.
Owner Wafah Haddad started Tutor Time of Bouquet Canyon in 1996 with her husband William Haddad.
“At the time I had young children and was never happy with the quality of their day cares. I kept thinking I could open a day care and I had an image of the quality I could provide to Santa Clarita. My husband and I were very fortunate we could open Tutor Time,” said Haddad.
Her son was Tutor Time’s first student almost 15 years ago. Since then, Tutor Time of Bouquet Canyon has expanded to provide care for hundreds of children throughout the years. In addition, Haddad opened another Tutor Time location in Canyon Country in 2006.
Since June 2010 Tutor Time has been accredited with the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA) Haddad said.
“We were ecstatic when we received accreditation. It took myself and the staff almost three years to gain accreditation. NECPA is a program that is not mandatory and goes and beyond the state of California licensing requirements,” Haddad said. “I want people to know that we are not just an ordinary preschool and we are a high quality program that ensures your child’s safety and security.”
Tutor Time offers a variety of programs both full and part time for children between the ages of six weeks to six years.
All of their teachers receive ongoing training in early education and over half of their teachers have been with Tutor Time for eight years Haddad said.
“As a team we always strive to do something new, we want to continuously stimulate the children in different ways. This makes working at Tutor Time interesting because every day changes and our director really pushes us to learn and practice the leading theories on childcare,” Lisa Burt teacher of 14 years said.
Tutor Time’s curriculum is designed to nurture children in a variety of ways; they focus on developing the “Smarts” Haddad said.
Some of their unique Smart programs include BodySmart, NatureSmart, and PeopleSmart.
Their BodySmart program teaches expression through one’s body and movement; the NatureSmart program teaches awareness of the physical world and living things; the PeopleSmart program develops intrapersonal skills such as working in groups and sensitivity to others.
With their Whole Child Education approach, Tutor Time allows children to become LifeSmart.
“LifeSmart is an excellent program because it allows us to work with children on a one-on-one basis to build the child’s strengths,” Haddad said. “Our teachers are trained to develop their lesson plans around what the child’s strengths are and how the child learns.”
