Grow Your Vegetable Garden With Style
Creating a vegetable garden is fast and easy! Creating a vegetable garden with style may take a bit longer but it is time well spent when you see the results.
1. Pick the perfect spot
Most vegetables do will with full sun so make sure your area is not shaded by large trees or your house. Vegetables require at least eight hours of sun so be sure your spot isn’t shaded. You may want to make your garden easily accessible so when you need that extra tomato for your homemade pasta sauce you won’t have to trek across your yard.
2. It is all about the entrance
Selecting an arbor and fence for your garden gives it a charming look while distinctly marking the boundaries. Adding a climbing plant such as roses or clematis will add some green to your fence and arbor. The fence also acts to keep animals from snacking on your precious vegetables.
3. Plant according to season
Remember that vegetables grow according to season. Select the ones that grow in the current season. You may have to wait to grow your favorite vegetables if you aren’t in the right season.
4. Add some color
If you are tired of the drab look vegetables give your garden, don’t be afraid to mix flowers in! Choose something with lots of color such as vibrant Gaillardias. If you select edible flowers you accomplish two goals at once—a lovely garden and a lovely garnish for your favorite dishes.
“Peppers, squash, corn and eggplant are vegetables that should be planted in summer. Some good fruits are tomatoes and strawberries,” Matt Huey of Sunset Nursery said.
