khts_fireengine5

Updated Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

At 6:00 p.m., firefighters announced that the fire is 100% contained.  Several structures and beehives were threatened, but nothing was damaged.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

According to Captain Mark Savage of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, possible damage may have been done to a bridge on Agua Dulce Canyon Road south of the 14 Freeway and it is being inspected.

Though some lanes were closed earlier, three northbound lanes on the 14 Freeway are open.

The Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch reported 30 acres burned and there was 75% containment at 5:30 p.m.

Sgt. Tucker from the Palmdale Sheriff's Department reported that 20 acres have been burned, but firefighters are near gaining control of the fire.  No structures have been harmed.

A fire has been reported in Agua Dulce and Soledad Cyn. The fire currently has burned 10 acres, but variable winds are helping firefighters prevent the fire from spreading. Air drops are being made on both sides of the 14 Freeway. A structure protection has been issued, no structures have been harmed and there have been no evacutions. All roads are open.

A "third alarm" has been issued and approximately 250 firefighters have been sent to the fire.

Captain Mark Savage of the Los Angeles County Fire Department stated that people should be aware and ready, if necessary, to evacuate large animals.
