Fire Burns Nearly Three Acres Near Placerita
UPDATED Wednesday, 3:40 p.m.
The fire was contained to less than three acres and is completely out.
Northbound lanes of Sierra Highway at Placerita Canyon were shut down for about an hour this afternoon due to a fire burning on the side of the southbound 14 freeway.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, firefighters initially responded to a small fire on the side of the southbound 14 near Placerita Canyon and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which burned a quarter acre.

As they were mopping up, they noticed a small spot that had started to burn a little ways away and had to call back units to fight the new blaze. Dry fuel caused the fire to flare and roads in the area were closed as a precaution. Firefighters were able to contain that fire to two acres and knockdown was achieved in a half-hour.
