The fire was contained to less than three acres and is completely out.

Northbound lanes of Sierra Highway at Placerita Canyon were shut down for about an hour this afternoon due to a fire burning on the side of the southbound 14 freeway.

As they were mopping up, they noticed a small spot that had started to burn a little ways away and had to call back units to fight the new blaze. Dry fuel caused the fire to flare and roads in the area were closed as a precaution. Firefighters were able to contain that fire to two acres and knockdown was achieved in a half-hour.
