Santa Clarita Blue Heat Women's Soccer Team Ties Colorado Rush

khts_sportsThe Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team stayed unbeaten, but saw their six-game winning streak come to an end.

The Blue Heat played to a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rush at Valencia High School. It was only the second tie of the season for the Blue Heat, 7-0-2 in the United Soccer League Western Conference.

Hart High graduate Kayla Kret scored the first goal of the game and gave the Blue Heat a 1-0 lead in the second half. The Rush scored in the 86th minute to tie the game.

In auto racing, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley will be at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale this weekend for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race. He leads the West Series standings and has won four of the first six races of the West Series season.

In baseball, the Cubs scored four runs in the 13th inning and beat the Giants, 5-2. Geovany Soto hit a pinch-hit three-run homer to cap the rally.

In other games, the Rockies lost to the White Sox, 6-4, in 10 innings, the Marlins beat the A’s, 5-4, and the Astros shut out the Rangers, 7-0.

The Tigers beat the Mets, 5-2, the Yankees blanked the Brewers, 5-0, the Red Sox beat the Phillies, 5-2, the Cardinals beat the Orioles, 9-6, and the Pirates beat the Blue Jays, 6-2.
