Santa Clarita Blue Heat Women's Soccer Team Stays Unbeaten
The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team stayed undefeated and beat the visiting Colorado Force, 3-1, scoring two goals in the second half at Valencia High.
Hannah Beard and Edite Fernandes each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Heat. The next game for the Blue Heat is Thursday at Valencia High School.
The West Ranch baseball team is back on a winning track. West Ranch beat Quartz Hill, 7-1, in the Valley Invitational Baseball League for its second win in a row. JC Cloney had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
Casey Gahan earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief. Daniel Ruiz added two hits for West Ranch.
The Golden Valley baseball team rallied to beat the Braves, 7-6, and won its third game of the summer league. Golden Valley scored five runs in the fifth inning capped by a three-run double by Lucas Granado.
Adrian Carbelloc knocked in the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh. Byce Shea earned the win on the mound for Golden Valley.
In other games, Canyon beat Burbank, 9-4, Saugus beat Chaminade, 8-3, Valencia lost to Burroughs, 6-2, and Hart lost to Alemany, 6-3.
The Dodgers couldn’t keep their sticks hot in Minnesota and lost to the Twins, 6-4. Aaron Miles hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning and Andre Ethier was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Dodgers.
In other games, the Giants swept the Cubs in a doubleheader, winning the first game, 6-3, and the nightcap, 13-7. The Cardinals beat the Orioles, 6-2, the Mets clobbered the Tigers, 13-4, the Yankees did the same to the Brewers, 12-2, and the Phillies shut out the Red Sox, 5-0.
The Pirates beat the Blue Jays, 7-6, the Rays beat the Reds, 4-3, and the Astros beat the Rangers, 7-3.
The Angels scored five runs in the eighth inning and blew out the Nationals, 11-5. The Rockies beat the White Sox, 3-2 in 13 innings, the Diamondbacks beat the Indians, 6-4, the A’s shut out the Marlins, 1-0, the Padres doubled up on the Royals, 4-2, and the Braves sneaked past the Mariners, 5-4.
