Memorial Day At Eternal Valley Honors Veterans

Memorial_Day_FlagsPatriotic songs and a Condor Squadron flyover will be just two of the events that celebrate, honors, and remember those who served this Memorial Day.

Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall will be holding their 23rd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy.

“We are proud to once again provide a pivotal gathering place for our community to come and pay tribute to those brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, men and women who died serving our country,” said Jim Biby, marketing director of the Dignity Memorial network.

“This service is one of many programs we offer for our veterans in recognition of their dedication and valor.”

The distinctive sound and appearance of the AT-6 planes of the Condor Squadron flying overhead will mark the commencement of the 23rd Annual Tribute to veterans, which is organized by the Santa Clarita Valley Veterans Memorial Committee and Eternal Valley Memorial Park.

More than 500 area Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts will place more than 5,000 American flags on the graves of veterans.

The Master of Ceremonies will be Retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Duane Harte with guest speaker Congressman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

Participants include The Little Ladiez singing the National Anthem, Rabbi Mark Blazer, The Santa Clarita Valley Concert Band and The SCV Master Chorale.

During the ceremony, there will be a special tribute to the SCV Gold Star Families given by City Councilman Bob Kellar and Dick Jeffrey.

Following the ceremony the audience will be invited to the Veterans Memorial Wall for the reading of the more than 850 names inscribed on the wall.

Refreshments will be provided.
