Antonovich Criticizes Costs Of Early Release Prisoners
The Los Angeles County Chief Executive Officer released a report highlighting the cost of early released non-revocable parolees to the County taxpayers as totaling nearly $10 million between January 1 and March 25, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
“Just sweeping dust under the rug doesn’t get rid of the dirt,” said Antonovich. “Shifting unfunded mandates to the County without compensation doesn’t solve our government’s fiscal problems.”

The costs of Los Angeles County’s included expenses for early released non-revocable parolees requiring Department of Mental Health outpatient facility services at $9.5 million and the Sheriff’s Department expenses for location searches, parolee contracts, and parolee arrests at an additional $415,000.
