LA County Fire Department Will Begin Preparing For Spring Drills
The Los Angeles County Fire Department is advising the public that from May 2 through May 4, they will begin preparing for the annual Spring Drills at Wayside Honor Rancho in Castaic.
The preparation will involve preparing the training area for burn operations. This involves very small burns that will widen contingency lines – providing for maximum safety during the actual training operations.
The burn operation will involve small areas on the property and residents may see smoke. Fire engines and personnel, along with hand crews, patrols, and air support will be on standby as a precaution.

This procedure is not part of the actual drill, but only preparation for the upcoming drill.
As always, weather conditions will be carefully monitored prior to beginning the burn operation and throughout the day. Should conditions become unfavorable; the training operation will be canceled.
The annual Spring Drills will take place from May 11 through July 1. Live wildland fire training will take place at Wayside Honor Rancho in Castaic. Residents may see smoke.The purpose of the training will be to practice firefighting skills and tactics.
