Awesome Classic Eats Planned For May 15 On Creekside

foodtruckfoodSome classic car buffs keep their engines so clean you could eat off of them.

On May 15, you can admire those machines and get your tummy full of some of the hottest gourmet truck food in the Southland as the Valencia Gourmet Food Truck Fest meets the Creekside Classic on Sunday, May 15, on our very own auto row, all to benefit the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation.

 

The Awesometown folk have pulled together an offering that covers the globe with temptations for every palate; from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., food trucks will line Creekside Road, along with dozens of classic cars and specialty vehicles for car enthusiasts to enjoy. Admission is free.

The food truck phenomena has been sweeping Southern California, with many of the mobile kitchens making regular visits to Old Town Newhall and at special events in Central Park. For this event, which may be the largest gathering so far, nearly 50 trucks have agreed to participate, including many favorites: Ahn-Joo, Barbies Q, Border Grill Truck, Bool BBQ, Cali Cuisine, Crepes Bonaparte, Del’s Lemonade, Fishlips Sushi, Fresh Fries, Frysmith, George’s Greek Café, Germany’s Famous Bratwurst, Global Soul, Gourmet Genie, Happy Cup Ramen Truck, Hungry Nomad, India Jones Chow Truck, Kabob Express, Kabob N’ Roll, Komodo, Krazy BBQ, Lake Street Creamery, Lardon, Lee’s Philly, Lomo Arigato, Ludo Truck, Maui Wowi Hawaiian, Munchie Machine, No Jodas Cuban Kitchen, No Tomatoes!, Nom Nom Truck, Papa’s Tapas Truck, Pita Pusher, Ragin’ Cajun, Rokyo Gourmet Ramen, Rolling Sushi Van, Rosa’s Bella Cucina, Streets of Thailand, Shrimp Pimp, Tapa Boy, The Sweets Truck, Tornado Potato, Tropical Shave Ice, Valentino’s Pizza, Vizzi Truck, White Rabbit Truck and The Yummy One.

Seasoned foodies have techniques to approaching food truck festivals; sharing is encouraged and splitting up your group to stand in line and gather several tastes at a time is common. For foodie newbies, here’s a link to some basic survival tactics.

Musical selections that span the classic years will be performed by The Master’s College swing band, taking visitors down memory lane with tunes made popular by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and more.

VIP parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for a nominal per-car fee with proceeds benefiting the SCV Sheriff's Foundation.

In this inaugural Creekside Classic, all pre-1975, classics, muscle, antique, and all years of historical, special construction, race, motorcycles, emergency, historical and military vehicles are welcome.

Registration is $35 per car and advance registration is strongly recommended. Day-of-event registration will be done on a space-available basis. Entries who want to be parked together must arrive together. Along with awards given out by various dealers, there will be a special award for best club participation. Vendors and vehicles will be set up on Creekside Road between Auto Center Drive and Valencia Boulevard. Creekside Classic and LASD items will also be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the SCV Sheriff's Foundation.
