City Awarded Grant For Inclusion Program

khts_citymatters_scvlogoThe City of Santa Clarita’s Inclusion Program was chosen as one of 55 nationwide recreational programs in 27 states and awarded a $10,000 grant to partner with the National Inclusion Project to implement “Let’s ALL Play—Inclusion in Recreational Programs.” The partnership will allow children with special needs to enjoy a successful summer camp experience in an inclusive setting.

“We are very excited to work with the National Inclusion Project to further open the City of Santa Clarita’s Inclusion Services Program to children with special needs,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean. “This program will enable the City to give more children the chance to participate in activities they may have never thought possible.”

As part of this initiative, the National Inclusion Project will provide a program model, training, and expertise. Since its inception in 2004, the “Let’s ALL Play” Program has been in development to help bring an inclusive recreational experience to children with disabilities. The City’s participation in this program will provide children with special needs an enjoyable summer camp experience in a friendly and inclusive setting.

The National Inclusion Project has been working for years to open doors in communities nationwide for children with special needs to experience everything life has to offer. They conduct programs with community partners to teach others how to be inclusive so that kids with and without disabilities can experience the same lifelong benefits.
