KHTS welcomed the American Cancer Society to the KHTS Community Resource Station on March 21, 2011.  We featured Candy Sphar, Brenda Robinson, & Tracie Kimbrough on the KHTS Non Profit Spotlight.

The KHTS Non-Profit Spotlight, airs Mondays at 10AM on AM-1220 KHTS and is  hosted by Janice Murray .

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the ACS has 12 chartered Divisions, more than 900 local offices nationwide, and a presence in more than 5,100 communities.

The American Cancer Society's international mission concentrates on capacity building in developing cancer societies and on collaboration with other cancer-related organizations throughout the world in carrying out shared strategic directions.

Together with their millions of supporters, the American Cancer Society (ACS) saves lives and creates a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.

The 2011 Relay For Life of Santa Clarita will be held Saturday May 21 at 9am in Central Park.
