Four COC Players Earn Spots On All Conference Women's Basketball Team
Four players from the College of the Canyons women’s basketball team earned All Western State Conference honors.
Tinky Dahte, Jazzmyn Davis and Kelli Lewis earned spots on the All Conference first team. Dominique Turner earned an honorable mention.
Dahte averaged 13.7 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game in her freshman season. She led COC in field-goal percentage, making 47 percent of her shots.
Davis led COC in scoring and was second in conference with 18.2 points per game. She also led COC in rebounding with 12.5 per game.
Lewis averaged 16.1 points per game and made 37 3-point shots for COC. She set a school record with nine 3-pointers against West LA College on Jan. 5.
The COC women are in the third round of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional playoffs. The Cougars play San Bernardino Valley College tonight.
The Valencia boys tennis team is off to a 2-0 start after an 11-7 win over San Marcos.
J.R. Macalutas, the No. 1 player for Valencia, lost only one game in a three-set sweep against San Marcos. Chris Pope, Valencia’s No. 3 player, won two sets.
Valencia opened the season with a win over Crescenta Valley on Monday.
