Interchange Landscaping Project Completed By City
The City of Santa Clarita has completed the landscape beautification of the Magic Mountain Parkway/Interstate 5 Interchange project. This is the final phase of the improvement project which started in July 2006.
The City of Santa Clarita was the lead agency that administered the construction contracts with funding partners, including: MTA, Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, and Newhall Land. The Magic Mountain Parkway/Interstate 5 Interchange project improves mobility, enhances safety, helps alleviate congestion, and greatly increases capacity of the interchange and local roadways.

The landscape beautification portion of the project added over 160,000 square- feet of green vegetation with over 200 trees, shrubs, ground cover, and hardscape in the median island along the parkway areas on Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road.
In addition, the project included installation of vine trellises along Magic Mountain Parkway and a decorative monument serving as a gateway entrance to the City near the northbound I-5 on–ramp.
“The landscape beautification project provides an excellent entrance to our City and is a terrific amenity for our community,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.
