COC Men's Basketball Team Becomes A Triple-Digit Threat

khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons men’s basketball team reached the century mark for the first time this season and beat LA Valley College, 100-81, for its second win in a row.

Rafael Love scored 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Hart High graduate Parker Dominguez scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds.

COC improved to 10-9 overall and 2-1 in Western State Conference play.

The College of the Canyons women beat LA Valley College, 70-53, behind a double-double from Jazzmyn Davis. She scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds.

COC, the 12th ranked team in the state, improved to 14-6, and is undefeated at 3-0 in Western State Conference play.

The Master’s College men’s and women’s basketball teams had a rough time against California Baptist. The men lost, 60-54. The women lost, 74-69.

The Master’s College men lost their fourth game in a row. Anthony Cammon scored 22 points in the loss for The Master’s College.

The Master’s College women lost their second game in a row. Erica Inge scored 22 points to lead The Master’s College women.

In high school soccer, the Saugus girls scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Canyon in the final minute of the game.

Ysabel Padron scored off a pass from Jaeger Woodson in the 80th minute.

The Valencia and Golden Valley girls played to a 1-1 draw. Emily Tuffey scored for Valencia. Jordan Dulay scored for Golden Valley.

The West Ranch boys knocked off Hart, 2-1, on a second-half goal by Lucas Reilly. Tylar Simone gave West Ranch a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first half.

Hart’s Niko Ferrero tied the game, 1-1, scoring a goal off a deflection early in the second half.

The Lakers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, 101-94, behind 21 points from Kobe Bryant. Pau Gasol also scored 21 points as the Lakers won for the eighth time in the past nine games.

The Kings lost to the Dallas Stars, 2-1, and have dropped eight of their past 10 games.

Justin Williams scored the lone goal for the Kings in the first period. The Stars scored two goals in the second period.

Jamie Langenbrunner, playing in his 1,000th game, scored the game winner on a power play.
