COC Men's Basketball Team Snaps Three-Game Losing Streak
The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team beat Bakersfield College, 82-73, and snapped a three-game losing streak.
Rafael Love scored a team-high 21 points, 13 in the second half, and helped COC rally to win the game. COC was down five points, 41-36, at halftime, but built a 12-point lead in the second half.
The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team had to rally a bit against Bakersfield, but won, 83-49.
The COC women were down early in the first half, 11-5. Tinky Dahte and Jazzmyn Davis led the comeback. Each scored 19 points to lead COC.
In high school basketball, the Santa Clarita Christian boys beat Pacifica Christian, 66-59, behind 21 points from Bret Ranhofer. Santa Clarita Christian stayed undefeated in Heritage League play at 2-0.
The Santa Clarita Christian girls basketball team pulled out a 31-27 win over Pacifica Christian. Taylor Cubas scored 14 points and had five steals for Santa Clarita Christian.
The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team beat Hillcrest Thousand Oaks, 70-60. James Brooks scored 27 points and had 15 rebounds for Trinity.
In high school soccer, the Hart boys pulled off a bit of a stunner, beating Canyon, 3-2. Hart’s Uriel Rodriguez scored the game-winner for Hart in second half.
The Santa Clarita Christian boys lost to Milken, 4-0.
The Santa Clarita Christian girls beat Milken, 2-1. Olivia Gwinn scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick from Joanna Masopust. Christina Keoshian scored the first goal for Santa Clarita Christian.
In college basketball, The Master’s College men lost to Westmont, 68-64. Anthony Cammon scored 19 points for the Master’s College, which has lost three games in a row.
The Master’s College women lost to Westmont, 77-64, and had their little two-game winning streak snapped. Erica Inge scored 21 points and Ella Joines scored 14 for The Master’s College.
The Lakers had to fend off a pesky Golden State Warriors team and won, 115-110. Kobe Bryant scored 17 of his 39 points in the final six minutes of the game.
Lamar Odom had another big game off the bench, scoring 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
The Kings are home for a game against the St. Louis Blues tonight at Staples Center. The Kings have lost six of their past seven games and are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maples Leafs.
The Blues are coming off a 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks last night.
