Valencia Boys Basketball Team Downs Concord De La Salle
The Valencia boys basketball team pulled off a bit of a stunner in the Oaks Christian Holiday Classic.
Valencia beat Concord De La Salle, 70-63, in the opening round of the tournament and handed the team from Northern California its first loss of the season.
Valencia’s Lonnie Jackson scored 35 points. It sets up a match-up between Valencia and Alemany in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The Canyon boys basketball team won its opening round game of the Ventura Tournament. Canyon beat Santa Clara, 82-64, behind 17 points from Clay Kasdorf. Coley Apsay added 15.
The Saugus boys basketball team beat Camarillo, 61-57, in the first round of the Hart Holiday Classic. Jeremy Gatewood had 17 points and four assists for Saugus.

The Canyon girls basketball team won its opening round game in the West Coast Holiday Classic. Alia McCoy scored a team-high 13 points in Canyon’s 47-40 win over St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs.
The Saugus girls basketball team lost to the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Students, 54-52 in overtime, in the West Coast Holiday Classic.
Megan Dawe scored a game-high 19 points for Saugus. Teammate Jordan Oster had 15.
The Valencia girls basketball team lost to Mira Costa, 58-44, in the first round of the West Coast Holiday Classic.
The Hart girls basketball team beat Moorpark, 60-34, in the La Canada Tournament. Christina Falcone led Hart with 12 points.
The Saugus boys soccer team split a pair of games in the Hart Tournament. Saugus beat El Camino Real, 2-1, but lost to Knight, 4-0.
Joey Rodriguez and Brian Perez each scored a goal for Saugus in the game against El Camino.
The Golden Valley boys soccer team beat Flintiridge Prep, 3-1, in the La Canada Tournament. Golden Valley’s Andres Lozano scored a hat trick.
The Dodgers traded infielder Chin-Iung Hu to the New York Mets for a minor league pitcher. The Dodgers acquired left-hander Michael Antonini, a 25-year-old career minor leaguer. He had a 4.32 ERA in 23 starts in Double-A in 2010.
The Kings shut out the San Jose Sharks, 4-0, and won their fourth game in a row.
The Kings scored four goals in the third period. Dustin Brown had two of them. Anze Kopitar had three assists.
The Kings travel to Phoenix for a game against the Coyotes on Wednesday.
