The Valencia football team is one win away from the CIF Southern Section Northern Division championship game. Standing in the Vikings’ way is the No. 1 seed in the Northern Division playoffs. Valencia is home against Oaks Christian tonight at Valencia High School. Valencia is coming off an impressive 40-21 win over Moorpark in the quarterfinals of the Northern Division playoffs. Oaks Christian beat Thousand Oaks, 57-34, in their quarterfinal game. Listen to the game tonight on AM 1220, KHTS. Kickoff is at 7:30.
Three players from the Hart girls basketball team scored in double figures in a 61-20 win over Oxnard in the Valencia High-Five Classic.
Madyson Stately led the way for Hart with 14 points.
The West Ranch girls basketball team beat Grant, 59-24, to advance to the semifinals of the Crescenta Valley tournament.
Michelle Arima scored a team-high 15 points for West Ranch.
The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team lost to Armenian General Benevolent Union, 59-24, in the opening round of the Santa Clarita Christian Tip-Off Tournament. It was the first varsity basketball game for the Trinity boys basketball team.
Jordan Mumper scored a team-high 13 points for Trinity.
The Hart girls soccer team beat Burroughs, 4-1. Katie Trevino had a hat trick, scoring three goals for Hart.
In high school tennis, sisters Emily and Clarice Fraczek from Valencia were eliminated by Cassidy Spearman and Jessica Perez from Dana Hills, 6-1, 6-1, in the CIF Southern Section Individual doubles tournament. The Fraczek sisters end their high school careers as three-time Foothill League doubles champions.
The Kings beat the Florida Panthers, 3-2, and snapped a four-game losing streak.
Anze Kopitar scored the game-winner in the third period. The Kings scored two goals in the third period to take a one-goal lead.
The Detroit Red Wings come to Staples Center on Saturday night to face the Kings.
