Upcoming Charity Jaunt Is A Beast
On December 11 at 7:30 a.m., the Santa Clarita Runners will push the limits to support the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry.
For the fourth year, the group is hosting an event on a challenging course, known as “The Beast,” at Whitney Canyon Park.

The Beast should whet the palette of any health enthusiast or outdoorsman. At nearly 10 miles, the track is a dirt-and-gravel fire road that begins at the park-and-ride where Newhall Avenue dead-ends just east of State Route 14.
At one point along the course, participants will be 3,864 feet above sea level at the summit of Los Pinetos Peak.
The entry fee for the fourth annual Beast Charity Run/Walk is $20.
Whole Foods Market, Western Bagel and Castaic Lake Water Agency will provide food and water. Each participant who finishes the course will receive an “I Conquered The Beast 2010” T-shirt.
Participants have the option of either walking or running, but the group still stresses that they don’t do more than is comfortable or healthy for their conditions.
Contact Don McLean at scrunners.org to register for the event.
