Public Welcome To Discuss Potential Historical Spots In Newhall

khts_citymatters_scvlogoFrom 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight, the City will host a meeting at William S. Hart Park’s Hart Hall to discuss the possibility of awarding several locations in Newhall with the historical designation.

The City is considering several properties, and all are welcome to add their input on the City’s proposed historical preservation ordinance.

“We’re basically going to a take a conceptual outline of that proposed ordinance to the community tonight, and receive feedback from them,” said City Planner David Peterson.

Once the draft of the ordinance is complete, it will then move to the Planning Commission in the next stage of the process.

Some of the properties up for historical designation are the Newhall Ice Company, Tom Mix Cottages, Edison House and Ramona Chapel.

“This is the very beginning of this process,” said Peterson. “We have kind of a framework and concept put together. Before we get too far down the road we wanted to make sure that we got it out in front of the public and got their feedback.”

William S. Hart Park is located at 24151 Newhall Avenue, Newhall.
