Smyth Gets Perfect Score From California Chamber For Voting Record

cameronsmythFor the fourth consecutive year, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth has received a 100% rating from the California Chamber of Commerce for his positions on bills impacting the state’s business community.

“It is always an honor to be recognized by the California Chamber of Commerce, an organization with a long history of standing up for the small businesses that are the backbone of our economy,” said Smyth.  “To be one of the members recognized for my commitment to creating jobs and keeping businesses in the state is something I am very proud of.”

The Chamber of Commerce scorecard is an annual report that rates legislators based on their votes in several issue areas including economic development, employment law, environmental regulation, health care, legal and taxation.  For 2010, legislators were scored based on their votes on 17 bills, many of which the Chamber deemed “job creators” or “job killers”.

“Eight of the seventeen bills on the scorecard were job killers,” said Smyth.  “That speaks to what a difficult year this was for people trying to do business in California.  If we want to get the state’s economy back on track, we have to work with the business community rather than alienating them.  They are the job creators, and they are the ones who fuel California’s economic engine.”
