City Changes Alert Service Provider
Effective October 6, the City of Santa Clarita has begun to utilize a new communications service provider, Nixle Community Information Service, to send important, valuable community information directly to residents using the latest technology.
This change in providers requires that all residents previously registered to receive the City’s emergency text alerts must re-register their mobile number to continue receiving the alerts.

Residents of the City of Santa Clarita and those in neighboring communities can immediately begin receiving pertinent information via text message, email, and web by registering at www.santa-clarita.com/nixle
The third-party vendor previously used by the City to manage its Emergency Text Alert System recently notified staff that T-Mobile mobile phone subscribers will no longer be able to access their texting services. This discontinuation of service makes it necessary for the City to change providers to ensure all residents subscribing to eText Alerts continue receiving these messages.
“The Text Alert Emergency Communication System proactively allows the City to reach out and contact residents wherever they may be during times of localized emergencies,” commented Mayor Laurene Weste.
The Nixle Service allows the City to create and publish messages to be instantly delivered to subscribed residents via cell phone text message and/or email. Messages may include public safety emergency information (e.g. brush fires or earthquakes), road conditions/closures, evacuations as well as other relevant safety and community event information. The service is secure, reliable and free for residents to use. There is NO spam and no hidden cost. Standard text messaging rates do apply.
