Local Author's Children's Book Makes A Buzz
Have You Seen the Tickle Bug?
This is the title of Santa Clarita resident Braddon Mendelson’s recently published book which is buzzing its way into classrooms and tickling the funny bones of children and adults. The book, which follows a happy-go-lucky bug, has become a huge hit amongst kids across our valley and beyond.
Mendelson says the theme of the book is clear. “People should never be too busy to laugh,” he said.
After a zoo keeper finds the tickle bug and holds him in an insect exhibit, the tiny tickler escapes and pursues his true passion, making people laugh.
Mendelson says the idea for publishing this book came from a teacher who had allowed him to read the story to the class. The story, which he originally wrote for his son in kindergarten at the time, got much acclamation from the tots. The teacher persuaded him to publish the book.
Soon enough, word spread of Mendelson’s light-hearted tale and other teachers from other schools began requesting that he read to their class. For Mendelson, reading to children is something enjoyable.
“I love to pick up a book and read it and bring it to life,” said Mendelson, “It is very rewarding.”
He now takes requests from those interested in having him read his book to children and classrooms. Mendelson has had the opportunity to read to students from schools in Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County.
Mendelson resides in Stevenson Ranch and is a writer and film producer. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Albert Einstein Acadamy for letters, arts, and sciences.
