Hart Girls Golf Team Wins 2nd Foothill League Match

khts_sportsThe Hart girls golf team won the second Foothill League match of the season by 44 strokes at the Balboa Golf Course in Encino.

Hart’s Amanda Corr shot a 1-under par, 37, to lead all golfers. Hart shot 204 as a team. West Ranch came in second with a team score of 248.

The top four golfers in the match were from Hart. Nikki Prichard came in with a 1-over par, 39, followed by Brenna Carlson and Jamie Corr, each at 3-over par, 40.

West Ranch’s Sarah Hong posted the low round for her team at 6-over par, 43.

In high school basketball, Valencia’s Lonnie Jackson, the Foothill League’s leading scorer the past two seasons, has verbally committed to Boston College, according to a report in The Signal.

Jackson, Valencia’s career leader in scoring, averaged 23.6 points per game in his junior season. He will be joining a Boston College team that went 15-16 last season and plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference, one of the toughest in the nation, with North Carolina and Duke among the teams in the conference.

In high school volleyball, the Valencia girls were swept by Dos Pueblos in the season opener.

Carly Carapella had 23 assists and 10 digs for Valencia in the three-game match.

The Trinity girls volleyball team swept Pilgrim in three games. Julia Howell led Trinity with five kills and Jacey Massetto had six digs and seven aces.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls volleyball team lost to Sierra Canyon in five games. Natalie Keoshian had 11 kills, 11 digs and two aces for Santa Clarita Christian. Teammate Amanda Mothershead had six kills and 15 digs.

In college volleyball, The Master’s College women’s team lost in four games to Concordia, the fourth-ranked team in the NAIA.

Jenna Kapuscinski led The Master’s College with 15 kills. Tori Callihan had 12 kills.

Reggie Bush, the running back for the New Orleans Saints, might be out for the next four to six weeks after a number of reports indicate he broke his leg in the Monday Night Football game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Bush left the game in the fourth quarter after recovering a muffed punt. He left the field with his leg wrapped in ice.

Bush caught four passes and scored a touchdown before hurting his leg. According to reports, Bush will have his leg x-rayed when he returns with his team to New Orleans today.

The Dodgers had no answer for Clayton Richard and the San Diego Padres in a 6-0 loss. The Dodgers were shutout for the 17th time this season and Richard pitched the first shutout of his career.

Ryan Ludwick drove in four runs for the Padres.

The Dodgers were officially eliminated from playoff contention when the San Francisco Giants beat the Chicago Cubs, 1-0, earlier in the day.

The Dodgers continue their series with the Padres tonight. It will be Ted Lilly for the Dodgers against Tim Stauffer for the Padres. Pregame starts at 6:30 on AM 1220, KHTS.
