The goal is to encourage SCV residents to take a more active role in managing their health and become better healthcare partners with their own physicians by offering access to resources and education.
Upon arrival, attendees receive a heart health passport and summary to record their screening results. When complete, they receive a health summary of their results and Henry Mayo staff are on hand to answer questions.
On average, one third of the participants attend two or more consecutive health fairs. In February of 2009, the Framingham Heart Risk Assessment was added to the event to allow staff to compare screening results and report improvements.
Results showed that 27% of attendee’s Framingham scores stayed the same, and 54% saw an improvement.
The health fair offers free health education materials, nutrition and smoking cessation information, and a series of health screenings, including:
Ø Blood Pressure Monitoring
Ø Height and Weight Analysis
Ø Body Fat Analysis

Ø Cholesterol Test (12-hour fasting recommended)
Ø Glucose Test

The health fair is open to the community; admission and health screenings are free. Spanish speaking materials and translators are available. For more information, call 661-253-8408.
