Acton Woman, Daughter Killed On Evening Walk

An Acton woman and her daughter were killed Monday night as they walked on Antelope Woods Road near Crown Valley Road.

According to the Antelope Valley office of the California Highway Patrol, shortly after 8 p.m., Missy Darnell, 43, was walking southbound on Antelope Woods in front of a Toyota Scion XB driven by Angela Hupp.

Hupp, who was traveling at an unknown rate of speed, tried to avoid the women, but was unable to stop in time, striking Missy and her 9-year-old daughter, Genevieve.

Missy was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she died from her injuries. Her daughter was airlifted to Childrens’ Hospital Los Angeles, where she died Tuesday morning.

Her other child, who was walking with them, was not injured in the accident.

Hupp was not arrested or cited for her involvement, but her car was impounded for evidence.
