UPDATED: Brush Fire Burns 1,100 Acres In Lebec

More than 1,100 acres have burned in a brush fire in Lebec, where homes are threatened in the area near the I-5. The fire started shortly before 12:30 p.m. in the Lebec Road area of Kern County.

New evacuations have been ordered for O'Neil Canyon;  evacuations were ordered earlier in the afternoon for the Lebec Oaks Road and Chimney Canyon areas. An evacuation center has been set up at Frazier Mountain High School

The fire is 0 percent contained. 150 fire personnel from several agencies, including Los Angeles County Fire, are on the scene. Currently, 20 structures are threatened, none have been destroyed and no outbuildings have been destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
