New Fire Stations Planned For Santa Clarita Valley
Five new Los Angeles County Fire stations are planned for the Santa Clarita Valley area with the first set to open in July 2011 and the last the second quarter of 2012.
Incoming Assistant Fire Chief Niccum made a presentation to the Santa Clarita City Council on July 13 revealing the final designs and siting of the stations; three of them already have temporary stations up and serving the area and two will start construction this fall, coming online within the next two years.
The stations and expected schedules are:
Station 104 (temporary station in use), 26901 Golden Valley Road. The 11,415 square foot station will have nine dorms and two bays. Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2011 with opening some time in the second quarter of 2012.
Station 128, 28450 Whites Canyon Road. The 9,976 square foot station will have seven dorms and two bays. Construction is due to begin in fall of 2011 with completion in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Station 132 (temporary station in use), 29310 Soledad Canyon Road. The 9,746 square-foot station will have seven dorms and two bays. Construction should begin in August, with opening set for October 9, 2011.
Station 150 (Battalion 22 headquarters, currently sharing quarters with Station 107 on Soledad Canyon Road), 19190 Golden Valley Road. The 19,935 square foot station will have 10 dorms, three bays and a community room. The property will be acquired in the third quarter of 2010, with construction set to begin October 27 and opening March 20, 2012.
Station 156 (temporary station in use), 24505 Copper Hill Drive. This 11,152 square foot station will have 10 dorms, two bays and is currently under construction, with a tentative opening date of July 20, 2011.
