Valencia Freshman Alison Lee Qualifies For U.S. Women's Open Golf Tournament
Valencia High freshman Alison Lee is at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania preparing for her second U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament.
Last year, as a 14-year-old, Lee was the youngest player to make the cut in the Women’s U.S. Open. She finished in a tie for 26th place.
This year, she is one of 20 teenagers who earned spots in the U.S. Women Open through sectional qualifying.
The first round of the U.S. Women’s Open is Thursday.

Hart High graduate and Oakland Raiders quarterback Kyle Boller got married to Carrie Prejean on Friday in San Diego. The couple exchanged wedding vows at Capella Church inside the Grand Del Mar Hotel.
The two were engaged in February and have been together for about a year, dating since last July.
In women’s soccer, the Santa Clarita Blue Heat won its first game in franchise history over the weekend, then followed with its first shutout in franchise history.
The Blue Heat beat the visiting Colorado Force, 2-1, at Valencia High School on Saturday night. The team made it two wins in a row with a 1-0 shutout over the Pali Blues last night at Valencia.
The Blue Heat improved to 2-4-1 and moved into fifth place in the United Soccer League W-League Western Conference.
The Blue Heat’s next game is against the first-place Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday in Vancouver.
In auto racing, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley won the pole and led the first 42 laps of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday night.
But he got a flat tire, hit the backstretch wall on lap 43 and fell out of contention.
Auggie Vidovich won the race, the first of his West Series career.
Canyon Country’s RJ Johnson won the NASCAR Late Model race at Irwindale earlier in the night. He trails Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills by four points in the Late Model standings at the track.

In the Firestone Indy Lights series, Bryan Herta Autosport posted another podium finish. Sebastian Saavedra was third in the Indy Light race at Watkins Glen International in New York on Sunday. His teammate, Stefan Wilson, started on the front row with pole winner James Hinchliffe, but had mechanical issues and finished 12th.
The Dodgers trailed the visiting Florida Marlins by five runs before mounting a comeback. But the Dodgers came up a run short, losing 6-5.
Rafael Furcal hit a two-run home run and all-star Andre Ethier was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run.
