Newhall Family Foundation Funds Future Scholars

Newhall family members were on hand to witness the launch of the Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund at College of the Canyons Wednesday night.

Tony Newhall presented a $50,000 grant check to COC Chancellor Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook, who accepted the check with help from COC Foundation President Jill Mellady and Murray Wood, the Foundation’s chief development officer.

The check was presented at the COC Foundation’s Annual Installation and will serve to establish the Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund. Earnings from that fund will provide annual scholarships to COC students in perpetuity.

Under the terms of the grant, the Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation will contribute up to another $50,000, on a dollar-for-dollar basis to match every dollar that COC raises for scholarship endowment purposes.
