Canyon Country Crime Spree Ends With Three Arrests
Three people in violation of court-imposed parole and probation were arrested Saturday morning for a series of crimes where their own neighbors were victims.
It all started with a phone call to the sheriff from a concerned resident Saturday morning that not only led to the arrest of three individuals, but also resulted in the recovery of drugs and stolen property, and brought closure to two recent car theft victims.
Deputies responded to the 28800 block of Bougainvillea Way in Canyon Country to a resident's report of suspicious persons in a vehicle who were possibly doing drugs. At approximately the same time, deputies were responding to a second call in the 15600 block of Rosehaven Lane, Canyon Country, to a resident's report that his car had been stolen within the last three hours. Deputies had also responded to a stolen vehicle call just blocks away two days prior in the 29000 block of Lotusgarden Drive, Canyon Country.
When deputies arrived in the area they detained one individual as he started to drive away, while two others walked towards a nearby house. The second deputy contacted the car theft victim. After talking to the Neighborhood Watch representatives in the area, deputies conducted a thorough preliminary investigation which led them to the recovery of a Honda Prelude in the 25600 block of Rosehaven Lane which was stolen from Lotusgarden Drive on June 3. The interior of the vehicle had been stripped. Further investigation led the deputies to a house in the 15600 block of Poppyseed Lane where they discovered auto parts believed to be stolen from the Honda Prelude.
Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station's immediately responded and wrote a search warrant for the location. During the service of the search warrant, deputies recovered several auto parts, several items belonging to the second car theft victim, methamphetamine, Xanax, hypodermic syringes, car stereo equipment, numerous tools and a police baton.
Deputies also recovered the second stolen vehicle, a white Honda Civic, early Sunday morning in Los Angeles.
When the investigation was complete three suspects, who were apparently victimizing their own neighborhood, were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on several felony charges.
