Brush Fires On Freeways Keep Firefighters Busy

Firefighters have knockdown on a brush fire that burned on the northbound 14 freeway just north of Via Princessa. The burn area was confined to 2 1/2 acres and crews are in the mop-up process now.
Earlier today, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel are responded to the scene of a one-acre brush fire next to the southbound 14 near Sand Canyon Road. Camp and engine crews knocked down the fire within an hour.
A second fire that had been reported on the northbound I-5 at Smokey Bear Road has been knocked down by fire fighters. This fire started as a vehicle fire that spread to the brush on the nearby hillside. It was contained to an area less than an acre in size.
